Circumstances surrounding COVID-19 have forced us to make changes to our wedding. With restrictions in place and being mindful of the health and safety of our guests we have made the tough decision to cancel our wedding as planned and instead have a small intimate ceremony. Though you can no longer join us to celebrate this major milestone, we ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we start our marriage in these unprecedented times. We will miss having you with us and look forward to the day when we can all safely gather together again.
It all started at Iowa State University. Emmi and Zach met through mutual friends. Emmi was looking for a date to her sorority formal and her roommate at the time knew the perfect guy. Her exact words were, "You guys would be perfect together" and that they are. They met up at the Navy house on campus and talked for a while. Later, they went to a local Mexican Restaurant and they talked for hours. From that night on they both knew it was going to be something special and magical.
Emmi was in San Diego visiting Zach while he was at Basic Divison Officer's Course (officer training). After Zach was able to get off work early on Wednesday he took Emmi on a hike. Zach was very impatient with Emmi and he basically sprinted up to the top of the mountain. Three long miles later they made it to the top of the mountain where the view was absolutely beautiful. As they were taking pictures of the scenery and catching their breaths, Zach told Emmi, "Take a video of the view but start on me, go very slow in a circle and then end on me". Emmi didn't think twice about this since they both love to take photos and videos of their trips together. Emmi starts the video on Zach and walks slowly in a circle and ends on Zach. There he was on one knee asking the woman of his dreams to marry him. Emmi's exact words were, "What are you doing?". She was very caught off guard but SO happy. Emmi said YES and their story began!
