This is an incredible venue to see the bounty of the region we call home all in one place. You get to learn a little bit about the Sonoran Desert we call home through animals, plants, and traversing the landscape. A great activity for both adults & kiddos alike, though please note that it is mostly outside & it will be May in Tucson ;)
This is one of the most incredible nature areas we have and a Christo-Canty favorite. Lily has been going here almost all her life and now has Emmett in tow. There are plentiful hiking trails, including some great swaths of the iconic saguaros of the Sonoran Desert (what you picture when you picture a cactus). There is also a tram if hiking is not your thing! You can take the tram all the way up the canyon and back. If you buy a tram pass on your way in, you can also hike as far as you'd like and catch the tram at any point.
This place is part of what makes Tucson what it is! Fresh baked bread, an excellent wine selection, local produce & the craft coffee you'd expect... We think every Tucson neighborhood needs one of these. One of our favorite sandwiches in the world is made here, the Coppa. We also absolutely love the kale salad and pizza. An excellent place for lunch on Friday.
The one stop shop for coffee in Patagonia. Our friend Gianna has really elevated our Patagonia experience with this spot. Delicious coffee, smoothies, and other healthy breakfast items!
This preserve is part of the reason we love living in Patagonia. Go for a stroll along the railroad trail & take in some of the largest cottonwood trees you've ever seen! It's not uncommon to also see javelina, coatimundi, wild turkeys, and lots & lots of birds that Emmett and Lily know nothing about but attract birders from across the globe.
In so many ways, the place where it all began! The job at Rune brought Emmett out to Arizona & the gleaming Airstream on the hilltop is the place we had our first date. Rune is a spectacular location from which to look out & reflect on where you're headed - with a glass of wine in hand of course.
We'll check in with some friends to be sure the museum will be open on that Saturday afternoon but this an old cigar factory fixed up by a gaggle of arts-minded dreamers from Nogales that's now hung floor-to-ceiling with the work of our dear friend & fellow Patagonia-dweller Paula Wittner. The museum is a minute's walk from the US-Mexico border, her paintings are out-of-this-world and can only be washed down by a paleta from la Reina del Sabor across the street. A great afternoon jaunt.
