Question

Why are there multiple room blocks and where should we stay?

Answer

San Miguel is a small town and most of the hotels have between 15-25 rooms per hotel. We've tried to get room blocks for hotels that are walking distance apart from each other, convenient, easy and relatively inexpensive for our guests to stay at. Additionally, for larger groups we recommend getting an Airbnb or VRBO. Most of the downtown house rentals are 5 minutes walking to the hotels, come with full service staff and are extremely cost effective (they run between $75-$110 TOTAL per person for a 4 night stay). Additionally, Expedia has amazing bundle and save packages from Chicago and NYC that actually have flights into QRO and have our room blocks listed on there. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions, or want some guidance with your bookings!

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

February is a great month to visit San Miguel de Allende - it's past the rainy season so the days should be warm and sunny (70F to 80F) and the nights cooler (40F to 60F). Take in account that the altitude can make the evenings chilly so we'd suggest wearing layers!

Question

Can I contract the Zika Virus in San Miguel?

Answer

The World Health Organization doesn't think so. Although the Zika virus is present in coastal and tropical areas of Mexico, San Miguel de Allende is located in mountainous high desert where the genus of mosquito carrying the Zika virus is not found. The below NY Times article provides excellent maps and information about the virus and its prevalence. You are more likely to contract Zika in the southern US than in central Mexico. Additionally, the World Health Organization has indicated it's safe for all people to travel to areas of higher elevation since the mosquitoes who carry the virus can't live in those climates. See the official advisory below. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/health/what-is-zika-virus.html?_r=0 https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/page/risk-of-zika-selected-destination

Question

When should we arrive?

Answer

We encourage our out of town guests to arrive Thursday 14th or Friday 15th. This will allow you enough time to rest, relax and enjoy the sites and activities available in San Miguel de Allende.
