We met in the basement of a house party on the first day of our freshman year at university—an unlikely start to any love story. After a brief conversation, we went our separate ways. As the excitement and stress of freshman year took over, that night faded in our memories. Throughout the rest of that first year we had several chance encounters, each one gradually moving from friendly to flirtatious. Soon, Aidan developed a crush—unaware that the feeling was mutual. After Aidan mustered the courage to make his move, we went on our first date. We spent the rest of undergrad at each other’s sides: dining hall dates, late nights in the library, sorority formals, and rugby games. Despite the demands of school and work, we always found time to explore new places and try new things, developing the sense of adventure and curiosity that has defined our relationship. As the uncertainty of life after graduation loomed, we decided to stay in Rochester together to pursue higher education and career development. What was supposed to be just one more year in Rochester turned into four as we slowly found a home in the Flower City. We’ve built a wonderful community of friends, raised two strong and independent cats, bought and sold a sailboat, grown vegetables, skied and hiked through the mountains, and created a life together that neither of us could have imagined back in that basement more than eight years ago. We can’t wait to continue this journey, and we’re so excited for you to join us in celebrating our love. See you in Wicklow!
