Our Day

In the Summer of 2015 Loren and Emmanuel met in Washington DC at a “club”. Loren was out partying with her friends; teammates of the American University Women’ Volleyball team. Emmanuel was out with his best friend, brother and sister. After dancing with Loren’s friend …. the story is that Emmanuel was eying Loren and after dancing with Loren’s teammates he mustered up the courage to approach her. One can say, it was love after one song, and they danced the night away. The story continues that Loren played hard to get. After a period of playing phone tag, Loren finally agreed to go on her first date with Emmanuel. Emmanuel took Loren to the National Mall. It was a summers’ evening. After hours of strolling through the national mall and realizing they have a lot in common despite their different cultures, Loren was smitten with Emmanuel’s charming smile and his genuine interest in her. The National Mall, with over 3,000 cherry blossom trees always reminds Loren and Emmanuel of the love they share. In November of 2020, Emmanuel, his father, one of his sisters and his best friend, all joined Loren and her family for Thanksgiving dinner in Baldwin, NY. As a tradition, Thanksgiving dinner is laid out in the kitchen. Loren and her family would hold hands and form a circle around the food and give thanks. Each and all present, would offer a brief prayer of thanks and express gratitude for all their blessings. Emmanuel offered a prayer and expressed his thanks. He started to direct his remarks to Loren expressing how much he loved her and appreciated how she has made him a better man over the years, and how he looks forward to their future together – he proceeded to get down on one knee – he asked her for her hand in marriage! Loren, surprised, ecstatic and teary-eyed, without hesitation said - Yes! Loren and Emmanuel initially thought they did not need an extravagant wedding to consummate their love for each another. They decided to elope and have a small celebration with a few friends and family. Shortly thereafter, they were pregnant and on January 1, 2022, were blessed with a bouncing baby girl. After eight years of being together, Loren and Emmanuel cannot wait to celebrate their love with family and friends.
