In 1958, Congress instructed The Greenbrier to build our West Virginia Wing to conceal the construction of an emergency Cold War fallout shelter and relocation facility for Congress. Once veiled in secrecy, The Greenbrier bunker stands today as a captivating historical landmark, inviting guests to embark on an unforgettable 90-minute private or group journey through its corridors and chambers. Today, it has been featured on NBC, FOX, Discovery Channel, History Channel, VICE, ABC, and other top publications from around the world. Bunker Tours depart from the Trellis Lobby near the Lobby Bar. Guests should check in at the Trellis Lobby no later than 15 minutes prior to the tour
