One of the things we love most about God is that He doesn’t just write love stories—He writes wild ones. The kind that don’t always make sense at first, the kind that take unlikely beginnings and turn them into something beautiful. The greatest love story ever told—the crucifixion of Jesus—proves just how far He goes to pursue and redeem. That kind of love shapes everything for us. Our story may seem unconventional, but that’s how we know it’s His. He has a way of doing the unexpected, and we trust Him to keep writing something far better than we could’ve planned. We didn’t meet until four months after first hearing about each other—living four hours apart with no reason for our paths to cross. But the Spirit of God gathers. A close friend (who, as it turns out, had dated Caedmon) told me about him one afternoon by the pool and said, “You two have to meet.” On a whim, I texted him about an internship in Hawaii. He thought it was spam, blocked me, and that was that—for a while. What led me to reach out at all? Days earlier, I had been sitting outside, listening to the night birds and telling God how much I longed to share life with someone. I opened my Bible and found myself in Isaiah 34, where a single verse caught my eye: “Not one of them will be missing; none will lack its mate, because He has ordered it by His mouth, and He will gather them by His Spirit.” That verse was been a reminder to trust God's Spirit to do the work and for me to live without worry about my future person. Now its engraved on my engagement ring. It reminds me that God is the One who brings things together in His time, not me. A few months later, while in Hawaii and after a morning of prayer for my future family, I received a message from Caedmon. He had unblocked me, apologized, and reached out about a random inside joke. I rolled my eyes and nearly ignored it—but the Holy Spirit nudged me to respond. And from there, something beautiful began! We talked and talked- I interrogated him and he pursued me from thousands of miles away for three months. When we finally met in person at a skatepark in Birmingham, we laughed until our faces hurt. Soon after, he met my parents and asked me to be his girlfriend. A month into dating, we realized we'd like to do this forever and there was a deep peace in both of us that testified to this decision. Caedmon had already been saving for a ring. He told his friends I was his wife before we met. God made a way—providing the exact amount we needed from an old job for the ring. The rest is history. Through every twist and turn, God’s peace has led us. We’ve experienced His kindness, grace, and provision more deeply than ever before. This is just the beginning of the life He’s writing for us—and we’re so grateful to walk it hand in hand.
