The Meeting

August 2016 (maybe)

Well, we suppose this depends on how you define "met." Tyler SWEARS he knew who Emma was by the time he ended his sophomore year (Emma's freshman year) at Trinity. Small school and all, this makes sense. But Emma SWEARS that she had no idea who Tyler was until she ran into him five hours away from little Trinity Christian College. In the summer of 2016, both of us just happened to be visiting the cave exhibit at St. Louis's City Museum at the exact right moment. Though we didn't think much of that quick, funny-to-see-you-here conversation, it was a beginning. Our beginning :)

The Little Question

October 8, 2016

After two weeks of freshman mentorship, being cast opposite one another in the fall play, and finding ourselves thrown into overlapping friend groups, we started to get the picture: we belonged together! So while on a fall break camping trip in Kentucky with some friends, Tyler decided to pop the question... no, not THAT question. The little one that comes first! He invited Emma to go out early that Saturday morning to watch the sunrise in a hammock, and even though Emma did NOT like mornings, she did like Tyler. So she said yes. And as they watched the sun rise over the hills of the campsite (it was pretty), Tyler asked Emma if she officially wanted to begin dating. On that day, we tied our stories together. But even we couldn't have known how our little love would bloom!

The Big Question

December 22, 2019

It was a warm and sunny day, at least for December. Tyler had invited Emma to go out for brunch in Chicago as a last date before the two went to their respective families' homes for Christmas. Although we discovered upon arrival that the restaurant Tyler had originally planned on was closed (he FREAKED OUT), we enjoyed our brunch at a Plan B restaurant which was totally good enough to have been Plan A: Yolk. After our meal, we walked through a secluded little park that overlooked the river and the Chicago skyline. It was in that beautiful spot that Tyler asked Emma if she would spend the rest of her life with him-- and of course she said yes! And best of all, instead of having to go their separate ways after that, Tyler beat Emma to her parents' house to surprise her with an engagement party her family helped him put together. It was a day we'll always remember... almost as much as we'll remember the day we get to share our love with you!
