Emma We are a success story from a hinge dating app. We moved quickly from attempting to chat on the app and always missing each other to messaging on WhatsApp and then meeting in person. One weeknight in August 2019, Toye had a day off, and I was working near Liverpool Street Station, so we arranged to meet up for a first date at none other than Dirty Dicks pub. Chatting for hours, a cheeky first kiss (asked permission like a gentleman), and even forgetting about going for food, we finished the date and headed home, only to arrange the second date for just two days later. Guess it went well 😊 In just a few weeks, we were ‘official’, then had our first holiday together to beautiful Bruges, our first Christmas where I was sick as a dog with flu and then with the hit of COVID in 2020, we decided, well, we weren’t going to NOT see each other, so I moved in. The make it or break it time, and we were more in love than ever. It was all the way back then, during that time, somewhere after the first lockdown but before the second, we first started talking about the future and that we both decided it would include us getting married at some point, and now here we are. We knew what we were talking about after all. Toye Believe it or not, we actually first met on Hinge. Though it took a while for us to meet in person, we kept missing each other on Hinge, so one day I was just like, you know, it’s clear that we are interested in each other, as a month has passed and we’re still trying to keep in contact, how about we just meet in person? And from there, we found we weren't that far from each other, so we decided to meet at Dirty Dicks. I remember walking into the bar - you can’t really miss her, with her blue hair and especially when Emma had her Mohawk, striking as ever. I remember talking to her and just finding things easy; it was easy to open up and just share our lives, and how people on Tinder and Hinge can be very strange and not really know what they are looking for. Four hours flew by, and I was like oh damn, we need to get going as we both had to work the next day. Just before leaving the pub, I asked to kiss her, and she didn't even hesitate to say yes and well, the rest is history.
Toye had Emma book a random Monday off work, but tried to play it off as if it wasn’t for anything special; he just fancied booking something. The place they went to turned out to be the same beautiful rooftop restaurant that we went to for their first Valentine's (after axe throwing, of course) – though Toye had forgotten that perfect fact and thought it was somewhere new. His confusion, then recognition, gave Emma a laugh! So they had a lovely meal, and at some point Toye snuck off to arrange for them to have access to one of the pods on the terrace. When we got out there, it was set up beautifully with rose petals and drinks. Emma walked in first and took a seat, only to be asked why she was sitting down, so she stood up. As Emma stood up, then down on one knee, Toye went, saying the most romantic things about their relationship and their future together, bringing out the stunning ring. Emma was so excited that she barely took in what Toye was saying and just couldn’t wait to say yes…She even put the ring on herself!
