Our Story

Nick and Emma met at a worship night 7 years ago. Nick saw Emma's hair and was immediately hooked, and rest is history ;) Juuuust kidding. Kinda. Nick and Emma grew to be close friends after they met and each became close with the other's family (intentionally? maybe). During the peak of COVID, Nick decided it was time to "seal the deal" and decided to ask Emma to be his girl officially. He took her to the bluff (a south hill classic) to watch the sunset, then took her to Rocket Market (another south hill classic) because he knew food was the way to her heart. Before they split ways for the night, Nick gave Emma a letter and said not to read it before she got home. Emma, being a rule follower, waited until she got home to read the letter, which contained a beautiful poem asking Emma to be Nick's girlfriend. She of course freaked out, facetimed him, and said DUH (remember, this was 5 years in the making). On their one year anniversary, Nick took her on a "love" tour around Spokane to all their favorite and most memorable spots around town, including Rocket Market to get the same treats they each got together 1 year prior when he asked her to be his girlfriend (Nick had a Nutella Macaroon, Emma had a Pistachio Macaroon. Very important detail). Nick said it was time to go so the two packed up, and while they were driving Emma found Nick's rhyme book in the backseat and decided she wanted to try rapping. While she was rapping, she remembered a video of Daniel Radcliffe rapping that she had to show Nick. Since Nick was driving, she thought it'd be safer to show him the video if he pulled over, so she suggested they pull off at Cannon Hill (a third south hill classic, and Emma's favorite park). While there, Emma said they might as well walk around the park since they were already there, so they started walking towards her favorite willow tree. Emma noticed a picnic underneath the tree and joked that it was for them, but was stunned when Nick started leading her towards the picnic. Emma was amazed because she thought it was her idea to be at Cannon Hill, but really it was Nick's plan all along! Ther was a cake pop for Emma (because food is the way to her heart, remember?), flowers, and a heart outlined in bottle caps (Emma has been collected bottle caps since she was 14, and Nick has contributed to her collection greatly). The two talked, while Nick rushed Emma to eat her cake pop (ask us about this at the wedding hahaha). Finally, Nick said it was time to go again, so the two stood up and Emma started walking away, but Nick stayed and said he had one more thing. He then pulled out the same letter he gave to Emma when he asked her to be his girlfriend, and began to read that to her at the park, then dropped down to one knee and asked Emma to be his WIFE. Emma obvvviiiously said DUH again, and began to say "HOLY MAMA HOLY MAMA HOLY MAMA" several times after seeing her ring (if you've seen the ring, you'll understand why). Emma's sisters and mom and Nick's two bestfriends came running out of the bushes to celebrate with them. Later, Nick took Emma to Beverly's for a celebratory dinner, and later joined some of their closest friends for a yacht ride around Couer d'Alene at sunset. It was like a dream movie, and the two lived Happily Ever After. Now, the rest is really history ;)
