Emma was a nursing student on the verge of graduating and starting her career at UVMMC. Michael was an engineer working in energy storage. In any other timeline, their paths may never have crossed—but fate had other plans. Both found themselves in the greater Burlington area during a very special moment in cinematic history: the 20th anniversary remaster of Shrek 2. When Emma suggested it as a first date, neither could deny their shared love for the Shrek universe. As the saying goes, “Shrek is love, Shrek is life.” And, in this case, it was the beginning of something truly magical. From that moment on, we were inseparable. Over the next year, we filled our weekends with adventures—road trips to Cape Cod, skiing at Sugarbush, taste-testing everything at the Big E, and attending weekly The Chosen showings at Saint Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church. On March 15th, 2025 during what was supposed to be a ski weekend in Stowe (despite uncooperative weather), Michael got down on one knee at 6 PM and proposed. It was an unforgettable evening—one we’ll cherish forever. That’s just a glimpse of our journey so far. We are so excited to share the next chapter with all of you.
