Emma: Michael and I met our freshmen year of high school at Charlotte Catholic. I always admired Michael's confidence and felt comfortable talking to him from the start. My mom actually met Michael a few times after school and told me she thought he liked me, but I wasn't sure. We were friends for a few months before I asked him to the Sadie Hawkins dance (over text message because I was so nervous!). Michael was a perfect gentlemen at the dance, and asked me to be his girlfriend the next day! Michael: We were both in the same health class our freshmen year of high school. I had a crush on Emma from the very beginning but it took me a few weeks to get up the courage to talk to her. One day, I told her I liked her hair and asked her to sit next to me and my friends. Our friendship grew over the next few months and I was so happy when she asked me to the Sadie Hawkins dance. I called her the next evening and asked her to be my girlfriend - and here we are almost 10 years later!
Michael and Emma took a trip to Quebec City in Canada this past December. The town looked like a Christmas snow globe - it was decorated beautifully and it snowed almost every day (something we are not used to in North Carolina!). Emma has always dreamed of going dog sledding so on the morning of December 19th they arranged for a self-guided dog sled tour. Little did Emma know that Michael had the engagement ring in his coat pocket the whole time they were dog sledding (before the ring had been insured!!). Michael had planned to propose to Emma that morning however he was too focused on driving the sled to do so. That evening Michael took Emma to dinner at a restaurant that overlooked the Saint Lawrence River. Afterwards they walked through the snow and Michael delivered a heartfelt speech before dropping down on one knee and proposing!
