Hey everyone, it's Maalav and Emma here. We thought it'd be fun if we both told you how we met, so we're just gonna tag-team this. Here we go. Maalav: Graduation night for me back in 2022. I'm out with my friends, and my phone buzzes with a Tinder match. It's Emma. Her whole bio is just "Guess my major." Emma: I put that there thinking it'd be a cute little game. Then this guy comes back with "Marketing." Blonde hair, green eyes. Classic. Maalav: Yeah, I went straight for the stereotype and sent it. Hands down the smartest dumb thing I've ever done. Emma: We started texting like crazy after that. Late nights, sending each other the dumbest memes, talking about random stuff until we forgot what time it was. Pretty soon we were sneaking out for our first date, and it felt like we'd known each other forever. Maalav: July 5, 2022, we made it official. And we've basically been glued together ever since. Emma: Life didn't let us ease into it though. I moved to New York City for four months right after we started dating. Long distance was tough. We got through it with a ton of FaceTimes, surprise packages in the mail, and way too many "I miss you" messages. Maalav: When that was done, you moved to Kearney to finish undergrad. I was still in Omaha at the time, so we were doing the long-distance thing again for a bit, but much shorter. We basically saw each other every weekend. Emma: Yeah, but then I moved back to Omaha and that's when things really started feeling like home base for us. We both ended up in the same city, and that's when we got Koda. Our first puppy. He's a total goofball with endless energy, and a complete ausshole. Emma: Koda changed everything. We started road-tripping all over, checking states off our list. We've hit eleven so far, and we're nowhere near done. Then last year we brought home Bailey. Another Aussie. And yes, she's seriously the cutest thing alive. Two Aussies in the house means constant zoomies, early morning chaos, weekends at the dog bar and more love than we know what to do with. Maalav: Oh, and we bought our first house this past year too. It's still coming along but it definitely feels like home. Emma: Then law school called and I moved to Iowa City. Another stretch of distance. Maalav stayed in Omaha with the dogs and sends me like 400 pictures a day of them being adorable or destroying something. Usually both. Maalav: She's out there killing it in law school. Late nights, case briefs, the whole thing. I'm so proud of her every day. I'm mostly just feeding the puppies, and making sure the house doesn't fall apart. We've gotten pretty good at making the miles not feel so big. Emma: Looking back, what started as a random swipe and Maalav's awful major guess turned into this crazy, beautiful life we've built. New cities, long-distance rounds, two ridiculous dogs, a house that's finally starting to feel like ours, and more love than I ever expected. Maalav: Emma, you're my best friend, my favorite person to go on adventures with, and now my fiancée. I can't wait to stand up in front of everyone we love and promise you all the rest. The good days, the chaotic ones covered in dog hair and the quiet ones where we just lay on the couch all day. Emma: Same here. You make every single day better, even when we're apart. We're so excited to celebrate with all of you as we jump into whatever comes next. We can't wait to see you and celebrate our special day with you!
