WHERE IT BEGAN

From the Chicken House to the Altar

The last couple years of our relationship have been quite the adventure, but we have to give most of the credit to our local Chick-Fil-A, where we became coworkers November of 2019. It was the little things that immediately drew us together as each other's "favorite coworker" whether it was little games we made up as we ran food, spending our breaks together sharing stories or of course any friendly competition we could come up with at work, we quickly took advantage of any opportunity we got to work with each other and made it memorable and an absolute blast. We let the foundation of our friendship build for over a year as we prayed and sought out guidance for how God wanted us to move forward, after a much prolonged consideration on one of our ends (we'll let you guess who ;) ) we finally made it official February 3rd, 2021. The rest has been history. We have truly had the most amazing time getting to know each other, laugh with each other and challenge each other in a million different ways. We truly feel that our relationship is something that brings us both closer to the Lord and could not be more excited to be entering into this next phase of life with all of you by our side. God's goodness and grace has just screamed throughout our relationship and we give all glory and credit to the One who originated our love story's design. The proposal was an absolute dream. On the Gay family trip to Kona, Hawaii, Joshua surprised Emma with a day trip to Oahu (where her dad grew up and had his roots planted, she had never been to the Islands) Josh and Emma's parents had set up a video scavenger hunt of all the places Emma's dad would have wanted to show her around Hale'iwa, Emma's parents had been to the Island a month before and had recorded these videos for us to follow around. We spent the emotional and sentimental day with thankfulness taking away memories and thoughts we couldn't get anywhere else. As we headed back to Kona Emma was completely misdirected with the plan of doing family photos with the rest of the Gays. As we got back to the condo with Josh's parents all the other kids had already left to set stuff up, in Emma's head they were scoping out photo areas for family photos. Josh's parents left earlier which gave them the perfect amount of time to hide for what was really about to happen. We headed down to the golf course that overlooked the ocean at our condo, Emma was busy looking for the rest of family as Josh lead her directly to where everyone had set up the proposal. With the view of the ocean, Emma's favorite hawaiian love song playing (one which her Dad would sing to her Mom on their anniversary) and all the letters and polaroids we had it made for the most dreamy proposal one could ask for. Emma was completely shocked and had zero suspicion or idea of a proposal on this trip, we have the best team who kept it a secret and threw her off the perfect amount. And of course, the answer was YES!
