Our story began in August of 2016 when Emma showed up at my friend’s house in Arlington, Virginia for a party with her roommate. Fast forward to Halloween 2016, I finally worked up the courage to ask Emma out to drinks. There seemed like no better time to ask when I was dressed as Mario and Emma was dressed as a baby. She said yes. After our first few dates, a few things became absolutely apparent to me. First, Emma and I share the same deep love and value of family and friends. Second, we both love sharing good food and good wine. This led to a third realization for me, if I wanted to keep dating Emma, we needed to schedule our future dates on weekends. Our love for food and wine kept Emma, a schoolteacher, out way too late on school nights leading to rough days at work for her. So, when I asked her out on a Friday night to be my girlfriend, she emphatically said yes to both. Our time in Washington D.C. is where we grew into adulthood together. Our dates changed into cooking at home. As I studied for the LSAT, sent out numerous law school applications, and realized we may be leaving DC, Emma was my biggest supporter. Finally, when Villanova called saying I had been accepted to law school, I asked Emma to move with me, and she said yes. We moved to an apartment in Radnor, Pennsylvania. We have decorated the walls with pictures of our families and friends, we put up a four-foot tree during the holidays, and stocked a bar cart with wine, bourbon, and tequila. However, our apartment was missing something. In April of 2020, we adopted our dog, Luna. We raised Luna through her puppy phase together going on long walks, house training, and trips to HomeGoods after Luna’s “redecorating.” Then in September after Emma returned home from a workout, I asked her to take Luna on a walk with me. This walk was a little different, though. I asked her to walk Luna with me as my fiancé, my future wife, and the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. Emma said yes.
