Jaaziel and Emma met in Spring of 2019 and soon realized they had a lot of mutual friends and shared a love for ECU and craft beer. After going on several dates over the course of several months, Jaaziel asked Emma to be his girlfriend two days after his birthday. After dating long distance for around 6 months, Jaaziel moved to Greenville to work as a paramedic. Since then, they have made it through quarantine, taken trips to Asheville, the Bahamas, several beach and mountain trips, and countless ECU football games. They also have added the best dog to our lives, named Goose. This fall Jaaziel will start medical school at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina and Emma will be wrapping up her doctorate of audiology by completing her residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. They are so excited for these new adventures and are counting down the days until they get married!
Soon after Emma and Jaaziel looked at engagement rings, Jaaziel bought the ring and began planning the perfect proposal. Little did Emma know it would be 8 months later. After careful planning, Jaaziel decided to propose to Emma at Snowshoe in West Virginia. Emma and Jaaziel were planning to go on a ski trip with her sister and brother in law. After getting to the ski resort late Thursday, Emma and Jaaziel began skiing early in the morning with her sister, Tori and her brother in law, Sam. Throughout the day, Emma made jokes and asked if Jaaziel was going to propose in which he responded, "Yes I am going to ask you right now on this ski lift." Later in the day, the four of us went to dinner. Tori convinced Emma that the best way to get to the restaurant was by the resort shuttle. As they walked outside, Emma realized it had begun snowing, really blizzarding outside. Emma kept asking where is the shuttle as she and Jaaziel followed Tori to the proposal site. Jaaziel asked Emma to marry him on a helicopter pad in the middle of a blizzard and she said, "Well Duh!".
