We met in 6th grade at NASA space camp. From the age of 4 years old I knew I wanted to be the youngest man to go orbit the sun, so when I left for space camp that summer, I fully expected to be sent to space, but I never expected that I'd meet my future wife Emma. I was eating lunch in the cafeteria one day when she walked in. From the moment I saw her smile in that space suit...I knew it was on, and that I had to beat her if I wanted to book my place on that space shuttle. This began an intense rivalry between the two of us. No matter how hard I tried, Emma always outlasted me in the orbit simulator. I just couldn't help but puke my guts out after 5 minutes. What happened next though...neither of us saw coming. It was just another day of training. We had just finished running 70 short miles with the rest of our class before training, when our practice space ship exploded. Our "top-secret" space program wasn't so secret anymore. We were stuck inside the compound parameters, in the dark, and we were very much alone--cut off from our squadron leader (Bria Bannister). Thankfully, I remembered to bring my torch on my run (like the ones in the first National Treasure movie). I was very impressed to see that Emma had also brought one. We were class rivals, but we knew that we had to work together to get our class to safety. And so together, we were forced to reconcile our differences and guide the class to successfully to safety. We then received medals of recognition from Neil Armstrong, Kristen Wiig, and Lil Nas X, went to space, and farmed organic radishes in our spare time. And now, 10 years later we have decided to take on marriage together.
