We first met in 2014 at the George Washington University. At the time, Emma was working at the campus gym, where she would scan Garrett into the building. He soon asked a mutual friend to make an introduction. We would grab coffee and sit outside of Gelman library between classes or walk down M street to Georgetown on the weekends. We quickly realized our shared passion for running, and would run together nearly every day. Our favorite loops were around the Lincoln Memorial, the Tidal Basin and the trails of Roosevelt Island. After months of running, study sessions, and adventures around the capital, the rest is history!
Garrett picked out the engagement ring in February of 2020. Immediately following, however, we left our apartment in NYC to quarantine with family. We spontaneously, and safely, ended up driving to Montauk, to Chicago, and to Idaho over the course of a month. Unbeknownst to Emma, Garrett came up with new proposal plans every move. When we had finally settled in to Garrett's Dad's cabin in Clayton, ID, the perfect opportunity presented itself. On Emma's birthday we biked 6 miles through Spar Canyon. We then ditched our bikes and hiked to the top of a mountain overlooking the canyons. It was at the highest peak that Garrett asked Emma to be his wife.
