If you're an outdoor enthusiast, you won't want to miss El Yunque, the amazing Puerto Rican rainforest. Go for a hike, swim in waterfalls, and take in the incredible scenery. We recommend either renting a car to explore the forest or booking a tour.
A visit to Puerto Rico is not complete without checking out the vibrant streets of Old San Juan. While visiting, make sure to stop by our favorite ice cream spot, Anita Gelado, for a scoop (or many).
Puerto Rico is home to three incredible Bioluminescent Bays, visiting one of these is an incredible experience you wont want to miss. Mosquito Bay on the island of Vieques, Laguna Grande in Fajardo, and La Parguera in Lajas. Among them, Laguna Grande is the closest to our venue, just a 40-minute drive from Rio Grande. For the best viewing experience, plan your visit during a new moon when the night sky is at its darkest. Luckily, our wedding weekend aligns perfectly with this optimal time for witnessing this nature phenomenon. Click the link for further details.
If you plan a longer stay in Puerto Rico, consider a day-trip out to the island Vieques, a beautiful island just a ferry ride away from Puerto Rico. Vieques is home to a population of free-roaming horses and boasts one of the world's brightest bioluminescent bays, Mosquito Bay. We loved our trip to Vieques and tour of Mosquito Bay in 2021 and cannot recommend it enough. There is a ferry that departs from the town of Ceiba, about a 40 minute drive from Rio Grande. Also located off the coast of Puerto Rico is Culebra, an island known for its white-sand beaches and beautiful reefs. If you're into snorkeling or scuba diving, we highly recommend a tour with Culebra Divers. We had an amazing time diving with them during our visit in 2021. Culebra can be reached by a small plane from San Juan or by ferry from the town of Ceiba, which is about a 40-minute drive from Rio Grande. You can also take a ferry between Vieques and Culebra if you plan on visiting both islands. Click the link for additional details.
If you're up for some adventure while in Puerto Rico, check out ToroVerde Adventure Park! It offers one of the longest zip lines in the world (The Monster). Whether you're a thrill-seeker or just looking for a unique way to explore, ToroVerde is worth adding to the list.
