Our story begins the way only God could have written it, in the most unexpected place: Las Vegas, during a fun mashup of a bachelorette party and a bachelor party. Emma was there celebrating her childhood best friend’s last fling before the ring, and Ethan was doing the exact same for his childhood best friend. Of all places… it had to be Vegas. Somewhere between the neon lights and chaotic dance floors, Emma noticed Ethan. There was something about the way he carried himself, relaxed and genuine, and it made Emma want to know him more. So, she did what any brave, curious girl would do- tried to make small talk. Thank goodness it worked, it was clear God was already planting the seeds. Later that night, after everyone went their separate ways, Ethan asked Brih for Emma’s number. Emma couldn't hide her excitement, but tried to keep her cool once they met up in the lobby of Planet Hollywood, where their conversation had lasted until 6 a.m. They talked about everything- The Rookie, music, family, their hobbies, and the Vietnam War (thanks for the history lesson Ethan). When they realized the sun had came up, Ethan had to say goodbye and "see you in September" for the Ring wedding. But what God starts, He finishes. A month later, Ethan flew to Boise to visit Emma and in another month, Emma would fly to Tennessee, and didn't just fall in love with Ethan, but with Tennessee too. A few weeks after that, she made a decision: she was packing up and moving. Ethan, being the sweet boy he is, flew back to Boise, and drove Emma and her belongings 30 hours across the country (don't worry Emma drove 5 of them!) Still, their path wasn’t simple. For eight months, they navigated long distance, leaning on God, faith, and love. They prayed together, FaceTimed endlessly, said sleepy 6 a.m. “see you laters,” and trusted that the distance was strengthening what was already being beautifully built. It did. Eight months later, Ethan finally moved home and they started talking more seriously about forever. Then came the trip of a lifetime: Scotland. While there, they visited the filming location of the first show they ever watched together (yes, they’re that couple). And on a quiet hill surrounded by God’s breathtaking creation, Ethan got down on one knee and asked Emma to marry him. Spoiler alert: she said yes, with joy and peace knowing that this love story wasn’t just theirs, it was the Lord’s doing.
