Emma and Erik’s neighborhood coffee shop! This intimate setting has great seasonal drinks no matter the time of the year and is great to people (and dog) watch. If you stop by, we also recommend exploring Gingerbread Man bakery next door.
Nestled in a Spanish style architecture building of what was a pharmacy in the 1920’s, The Remedy has some of the coziest vibes in Winston-Salem. Great coffee and baked goods by day refined cocktails along with a beer and wine section by night. Emma and Erik also took engagement photos here!
The menu at Rooster’s is never the same. That’s a good thing though because they focus on locally sourced seasonal cuisine so the menu changes with what is in season and available. Emma and Erik had dinner here after they got engaged and it is an absolute treat to eat there.
See where Emma and Erik had their first date! Twisted Pine has a great mix of tacos, burgers, delicious appetizers, and drinks. We recommend the fried cheese curds and the birria tacos. Ingredients are local and some are even grown at the garden that neighbors the restaurant.
We have a soft spot for every brewery in town but Fiddin’ Fish is our favorite. They have a great combination of year-round classics and rotating seasonals making it nearly impossible to go wrong. Stop on by on your own or at our welcome party
A bar split in 2! Easy focuses on classic drinks that are simple but also different seasonal drinks. This is great for casual conversation and browsing some of the international snacks available. Peak behind the curtain in the back and you will find Talk. Talk is a more intimate experience where the bartender will talk with you and create a custom cocktail based on your preferences.
Old Salem is a living history museum of the Moravian settlement of Salem that came from Pennsylvania in the mid-1700’s. It is perfect to just walk through in the fall (we took engagement photos here!) but you can also buy tickets for the museum to go into some of the buildings and see re-enactors give demonstrations. Lot 63 is a great coffee shop in Old Salem if you need a pick me up after all that walking.
The Reynolda House was home of the Reynolds family known for their tobacco empire and is now a renowned art museum. Explore the house along with what was a working farm village but is now home to amazing shops and restaurants. A short walk on Reynolda trail takes you to Wake Forest University, where Erik went to school and who Emma grew up cheering for. Explore one of the most beautiful college campuses around! We recommend going to the quad and stopping by the Deacon Shop or the bookstore for some Wake Forest memorabilia.
Explore a hidden gem of Winston-Salem! Salem Lake is a perfect place to immerse yourself in nature or get some great exercise. There is a 7-mile loop trail popular in mornings that goes around the entire perimeter of the lake.
A short drive north takes you to one of the most iconic landmarks of the area. Part of the ancient Sauratown Mountains, Pilot Mountain is great for sight-seeing as you can drive to the top but also for hikers with a relatively strenuous 6+ mile hike.
