We met in Room 400 at Southport High School as staff members of the school newspaper. Our first year on staff together, we did not even look in each other's directions. Eli had actually decided to quit newspaper after that year. But God had other plans in mind. The following year, Eli stayed on staff, and I, Emma, was his editor. That year, out of the blue, we got very close and became best friends. We were inseparable. We fell in love, went from being Cardinals to being Hoosiers together, and the rest is history.
