Michael and Emma first matched on Hinge and decided to meet at Floyd’s (RIP) on Atlantic Avenue. Michael warned he had an early meeting the next morning and probably couldn’t stay out late. Emma was riding the Downtown 2 train all the way from the Upper West Side while second-guessing her decision to trek to Brooklyn. But the moment they arrived, it felt easy. Floyd’s had cheap beer, good music, and a bocce court, but instead of playing, they spent the night laughing and heckling the people who were. They never touched a bocce ball—and it was perfect. From the very beginning, their relationship had its own rhythm. Michael’s job sent him across the country and overseas for weeks at a time, but the distance only gave them more space to reflect and realize how much they missed each other. That spring, after Michael flew home from Amsterdam for just one weekend only to see Emma, they both knew this was something special. Within the first two months, they escaped the city for a breakfast date at Phoenicia Diner in the middle of the Catskills and within six months they were already off to explore the world together - exploring new cities, trying new foods, and proving to themselves that they were the kind of couple who travels well together. Discovering new places, sharing great meals, seeing live music, and being their goofiest selves became Emma and Michael's mission. They’ve built their life together around curiosity, and laughter. Though they're both unapologetic New Yorkers, their love of mountains and being outside was another common thread for Emma and Michael. This is why they are excited to welcome you to join them in the heart of the Catskills during their most beautiful part of the year as they make their love official.
