Tied the knot in 2021... Party with you in 2022

We met at Monkey Nest coffeeshop in Austin for a Tinder date. After a long conversation over black coffee and apple tea we went for a stroll to Brentwood Park. We spent so long on the swing set that Emily Sue got low blood sugar and had to rush home to eat the only snack on her shelves; a handful of golden raisins. The date went so well that we decided to have our second date the next day! We caught a late movie at the Alamo Drafthouse. Emily Sue ordered us Electric Jellyfish IPAs which was too funky for Dan but he admired Emily Sue's zest. We spent the whole movie wishing we were holding holding hands, but were too nervous to talk about it until afterwards. The rest is history.

Dan went to Petsmart and got a special dog tag made for Sarge so that he could help with the proposal. It said, "Mom will you marry this guy?" Dan managed to distract Emily Sue by agreeing to dance a jig with her in the hallway (she immediately became suspicious) and slipped the tag on Sarge's collar. By the time Emily Sue read the words on the tag, Dan was down on one knee with the ring asking Emily Sue to marry him. It's a good thing she said yes because her sister Sam was out front waiting to start the photo shoot.

We had a micro-picnic wedding in a secret juniper grove at Walnut Creek Park in Austin. Unfortunately due to COVID we could only have a handful of family and friends with us at the ceremony but we had a perfect day with filled with bubbles, tacos, corn hole, poetry readings, flip charts and our very own custom version of the newly weds game. Emily Sue's sister Sam was not only our officiant, she also baked our wedding cake which was complete with a custom cake topper designed by our friend Perrine. We professed our vows under an arch sown by our friend Beatrice. We were sad that we could not invite everyone. We are excited to party down with all of you in California soon!

We decided to go to Hawaii for our Honeymoon in order to satisfy Dan's need for lounging and Emily Sue's need for adventure (we'll save our international travels for when there is not a world wide pandemic). We stayed at the Fairmont Kea Launi. It was basically a really fancy sand castle that came with our own personal lenai, 3 pools, beautiful beach front, and an open air restaurant full of Sue and Dan friendly food. Sue did some amazing snorkeling but the one time Dan tried to partake he was pummeled by the Hawaiian waves and Sue's snorkel washed out out sea while trying to save him. The pandemic prevented us from island hopping, but we went on a helicopter ride putting us face to face with 3000 foot tall waterfalls, zip lined over multiple biomes, and bird watched in Haleakala National Park on Maui. It was a beautiful trip, we did not want to come home, and we can't wait to go back sometime in the future!
