Travel & FAQs

The Wedding Website of Emily Walsh and Sasha Arias
Wine country is a beautiful escape, but takes a little time to get to from the Bay Area — here are a few suggestions based on our experience, along with general FAQs.
Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please let us know whether you'll be able to join us by August 20th.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

We will have shuttles available to transport guests to and from the venue in the surrounding area. These shuttles are not on-demand, but rather will pick people up at designated times to arrive before the ceremony.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

We will be having an informal gathering the evening before the big day (Thursday, 9/28) just for folks who are already in town to meet up, have some delicious California wines, and kick off the celebration. This section will be updated soon with location and times!

Question

How should I get to St. Helena/Napa from the Bay Area?

Answer

There are three main options: 1. Rent a car from the airport: This will be the option that gives you the most freedom and flexibility. Napa is about a 1.5 to 2-hour drive from SFO or OAK, which is pretty scenic if you take the route over the Golden Gate Bridge! This is also the priciest option, especially with California gas prices, but you can usually find pretty good car rental deals on Kayak. 2. Take the train: Both SFO and OAK airports connect to BART (the Bay Area's subway system) which can take you to a station that connects to the Amtrak line serving Napa. When you land, use Google or Apple Maps to figure out which BART line to take to the station named Emeryville. Follow the airport signs for BART, transfer trains as instructed via your maps app, and get off at the Emeryville station. Look ahead of time on amtrak.com/tickets to purchase an Amtrak ticket (type in "Napa" as the destination) — this will take you all the way to Napa; you'll just have one connection from the train to an Amtrak bus. Make sure you give yourself at least 20 minutes flexibility time between arriving at the station and the train's departure, since the BART can sometimes encounter delays. 3. Take a joint shuttle from the airport: Since so many folks are flying in on the same day(s), we figure it would be relatively easy to secure a shuttle from the airport to downtown Napa! We have priced it out at roughly $56 per person — potentially a bit more depending on how many people sign up per shuttle and when we can make the reservations.
