On move-in day of their freshman year at UChicago, Mickey and Emily crossed paths during lunch where he invited her to a party that evening. Emily didn't make the party, but when she spotted him during the next day's orientation activities, she recognized that cute guy who must have forgotten to ask for her number. They locked eyes across the field, and after that it was just meant to be.

Mickey surprised Emily with a candlelit proposal at home, after their yearly tradition of heading to the Christkindlmarket for hot cider followed by a performance of The Nutcracker. It was thoughtful, cozy, and heartfelt - Emily couldn't have wished for a better holiday gift.
