In 2012 we found ourselves thru hiking the 2,184 mile Appalachian Trail between Maine and Georgia. We were just strangers then, walking in opposite directions. A year later, we met for the first time while working at an outdoor retailer and decided to compare notes. We had actually crossed paths in a very unique way. Not far from Dalton, Massachusetts there's an unusual hiker pitstop by the name of Upper Goose Pond Cabin. It's a quaint little spot with a lake, couple of hammocks, and a caretaker that cooks up pancakes for hikers that trouble the half mile detour to their doorstep. Southbound hikers are fortunate to pass a you-pick blueberry farm along the way, and northbound hikers are lucky to see a few in their pancakes if any survive until breakfast the next day. It's a serendipitous word-of-mouth arrangement that starts with some lunatic picking far too many blueberries than normal people do, carrying them to a place that few people go, and then sharing them with complete strangers in the hopes that one day someone will marry him for it. And although we still cannot agree on an appropriate cardinal direction to hike, we are always willing to meet over blueberry pancakes. We were engaged in November, 2019 on the Appalachian Trail and now you're all invited along for the party. So just as our relationship began with the outdoors, great food, and adventurous companionship, we can't wait to share these things with all of our friends and family. Many of you will be traveling from afar, so we hope that you make an extended trip of it. We'll be married on a Friday, so please consider taking the long weekend to get outside and enjoy the sights and sounds, tastes and terrain of beautiful southeast Pennsylvania.
