At the annual Rotary Christmas Party, all was going per usual when Emily wandered into a conversation between Dan and another Rotarian with a simple "Hi". She didn't know many others well enough to start a conversation, but some prior interactions with Dan made her feel comfortable enough to interject. When done talking, Dan asked Emily to go grab appetizers together and they really began to connect. The rest of the night was so much fun that it was Emily who asked to go on a dinner date the next night. Dan promptly picked her up for a fun night of sushi, and the rest was history. We quickly connected over our humor, or lack there of, and fell in love. It was a trip to Norfolk, VA that cemented our desire to be together for ever. After spending 11 hours there and 11 hours back in the car together, we enjoyed four beautiful days together and came home knowing that through all our ups and downs we have each others back, no matter what. When the lease on our apartment was up in October, we decided to look at buying a house. A few days after moving in to our new house, while standing in our empty living room and discussing what to make for dinner, Dan suddenly reached in his pocket, dropped down to his knee and asked Emily to marry him. After 5 minutes of Emily saying "are you kidding me?", Dan asked a second time to get confirmation that she was in fact saying "yes" to the question.
