Things To Do

Reid State Park

Reid State Park

375 Seguinland Road, Georgetown, ME 04548
, (207) 371-2303

Reid State Park bears the distinct honor as being Maine's first state-owned saltwater beach. In 1946, prosperous businessman and Georgetown resident Walter E. Reid donated land to the State of Maine to be preserved forever. Reid State Park is just down the road from our wedding venue and is always a must for me to visit when Derek and I go to Maine.

Popham Beach

Popham Beach

Phippsburg, ME 04562

Popham Beach is my favorite place to visit when Derek and I travel to Maine. It's in Phippsburg which is where the Cummings side of the family is from! Fort Popham is amazing to explore and Popham beach is truly one of Maine's rare geologic landforms. At the southwestern end of the beach, access is granted via the popular state park. The northeastern end of the beach (my favorite) is accessed via paths around historic Fort Popham, a handful of private parking lots, and pathways, as well as the ocean view campground situated near the boundary of the state park.

Bath

Bath

Bath, ME 04530

Bath is where Derek grew up! Bath is located on the beautiful Kennebec River. Downtown Bath has a unique mix of cute shops, restaurants, and services. Bath is referred to as "The City of Ships" because it is home to Bath Iron Works, a major United States shipyard that has built military vessels, most of which of been ordered by the U.S. Navy. Bath has recently been celebrated as one of the best small cities in America.

Maine Maritime Museum

Maine Maritime Museum

243 Washington Street, Bath, ME 04530
, (207) 443-1316

The Maine Maritime Museum offers exhibits about Maine's maritime heritage, culture, and the role Maine has played in regional and global maritime activities.

Five Islands Lobster Co

Five Islands Lobster Co

1447 5 Islands Road, Georgetown, ME 04548
, (207) 371-2990

If you love seafood then you're definitely going to wanna stop at Five Islands while you're in Maine. It's one of Derek's favorite places to visit when he goes back to Maine. Five Islands is perched on an active fishing wharf, on the edge of Sheepscot Bay. Five islands Lobster stands out in the sea of dining options with the perfect combination of exceptional food and classic Maine atmosphere. You can BYOB and sit back and enjoy your meal and the beautiful scenery around you.

Boothbay Harbor

Boothbay Harbor

Maine

Maine is home to an endless amount of beautiful hiking trails. There are lots of trails all around Georgetown, Phippsburg, Bath, and West Bath. Mainetrailfinder.com is the best way to find the perfect trail you're looking for. Morse Mountain in Phippsburg is my favorite local trail. https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/maine/hike-secluded-beach-me/ The Phippsburg Land Trust has many beautiful trail options and was created and maintained by Derek's late grandfather. https://phippsburglandtrust.org/ Don't forget to bring bug spray.
