Dawson loves this story and always starts it with him leaving Boston for an Air Force business trip to the Arizona desert; so, we will start there. Dawson took off from Boston Logan Airport early one spring morning to evaluate a military program in Arizona. He always notes he had no cell service on this trip due to the remoteness of the work. However, on the final day, he was roaming to the coordinates of a small military weather device when he received an unexpected phone notification! Somehow, someway, Dawson had found cell service in the middle of the Arizona desert. We both quickly realized we matched on Hinge while in 2 different states and took the next 10 minutes sharing messages—Dawson, careful not to lose his unexpected cell service, and I, very excited, in my Boston North End apartment. I remember him noting that a High Point University Panther and a TCU Horned Frog would easily connect over the color purple and some drinks. On April 10, 2022 we met at Earl's Kitchen + Bar in Boston's Assembly Row where we shared special conversation, strong Cosmos, and stiff Old Fashions. By the nights end, he offered to walk me back to the train station and even called me to make sure I got home safely. I could tell a Hinge love story was about to unfold. We only grew closer during times of long distance and I solidified my forever teammate when we started new jobs under one roof, together, in Washington, DC.
Emily had no idea I would be proposing marriage on her 27th birthday in Lake Tahoe's Incline Village. The funniest part, earlier that afternoon Emily was enjoying hotdogs and hard seltzers on a floatie near the shores of Chimney Rock Beach. Her greatest worry was what food to order for her birthday dinner (LOL!). Emily's parents, Paul & Susan Segalla, her sister, Julia, my parents, Stacy & Andy Vasconi, and my sister, Tessa, were all together to share the most genuine tears and proud smiles as I got on one knee—at sunset August 11, 2024. The best parts of my heart will forever be blessed with moments where I can put smiles on my loved ones' faces.
