Scala is the oldest town on the Amalfi Coast—founded as far back as the 4th century by shipwrecked Romans. With terraced lemon groves, sweeping valley views, and quiet cobblestone paths, it offers a charming contrast to the more bustling nearby towns. This hilltop village is all about slow moments and stunning scenery. Expect ancient churches, local trattorias, and the kind of views that make you stop mid-sentence. And yes—Scala has lots of stairs, but every step is part of the experience (and leads to something beautiful).
Right across from Scala, Ravello is a walking town with tons of shops, restaurants and gardens to explore. We loved exploring the town and know you will too! You can walk over, drive (they have a large parking lot) or take the bus.
A vibrant town with many colorful shops, cute walkways and restaurants. We recommend taking the ferry or joining us on the boast cruise to get to Positano.
The famous and bustling town with shopping, restaurants, beaches and hiking. You can hike to Almafi from Scala (~1500 steps), take the bus or drive. If driving, parking can be found in Luna Rosso.
A small town a short drive from Almafi with great beaches, a calm vibe and good food.
Famous island with shopping, restaurants and water activities including the Blue Grotto. Take a ferry or local boat excursion to reach Capri.
You won't regret visiting Pompeii, the site of the famous Mount Vesuvius eruption in 79 AD that buried the city in ash, preserving it remarkably well. We loved learning how advanced they were that far in the past.
You can only get here by boat, this is a beautiful restaurant on the water with amazing seafood. Call the restaurant to arrange a free boat pick up at dock in front of Hotel la Bussola in Almafi.
A sea cave in Capri with a blue glow due to sunlight illuminating the cavern through an underwater cavity.
Gorgeous historical gardens with sea views and flowers galore
Wonderful restaurant in Ravello. You can see Scala and our venue from here!
A great local restaurant in Scala with views of Ravello and the sea.
One of our favorite meals, located in Minori.
There are many local companies that offer a variety of boat tours along the coast and to Capri. One of our favorite experiences!
Rent a scooter to explore the towns and winding roads along the coast
Recommended restaurant in downtown Almafi
Lorenzo can bring a cooking class to you, or cater a dinner in your villa. He is opening a location in Ravello that should be up and running by our wedding!
An upscale restaurant on the coast. We really enjoyed the covered flower drive down and the waterfall that attracted boat tours, giving great boat watching.
Scala is built on ancient roads, giving amazing hiking options up and down the coast. There is hiking right out the doors of the villa going down to Almafi or up to waterfalls. We recommend following the signs on the old streets or checking out the app - All Trails.
