He put a rang on it!

June of 2021, Michael and I took a trip to Florida. It was Michael’s first time but I have visited once or twice. When I was 18, I took a very short-lived trip to the keys and I had been craving to go back ever since. Luckily, I have a soon-to-be husband who will travel anywhere alongside me. We flew into Fort Lauderdale and stayed there for one eventful evening. Although exhausted, Michael was excited seeing the ocean for the first time. We stayed in a waterfront hotel and woke up the next morning to watch the sunrise (after 2 hours of sleep) The same day, we embarked on our journey through the Keys. Along the way, we stopped at Bahia Honda state park and got a great feel for what the Keys have to offer. Lots of beaches, sand bars and clear water. We had some fun for an hour or so and continued our trek down to the southernmost key - the whole trip takes almost 4 hours. Once we finally get there, we peruse around the small streets that are teeming with mopeds and golf carts. Stopped at some shops along the way, and we decided to end our day the same way we started - watching the sun meet the horizon. We had dinner on a pier, had some key lime cocktails, admired the sunset and really enjoyed some quality time together. Halfway through our dinner, Michael discreetly pulled out an engagement ring from his Fanny pack (lol) and proposed. I was not a fan of being on the spot but of course I said yes! What was meant to be a day trip ended up being an overnight stay. We booked a hotel incredibly late but they were extremely accommodating. The next day we rode around on mopeds, beach hopped, enjoyed the sunshine and really just thought of our new lives we are so eager to start together. Needless to say, the Keys hold a piece of my heart and mean a lot to me. I hope those who attend our wedding get to experience what I did. We’re very excited to share this special occasion with those that we love and who hold a connection to our relationship. :-)
