Emily was down the shore with her friend (now bridesmaid) Chandler, who said they were going to go out with her friend, Hanna Miller, and her family. It was right on that family's front porch where Emily and Austin first met, followed by a raucous evening biking from bars to houses, ending with Austin throwing Emily in the pool- completely clothed. It didn't end there, as Emily had to return the bike she borrowed from the Millers the next morning. (Doug and Dana wasted no time grilling her...) A week later, they went on their first date in New York and the rest is history.

Austin and Emily went down the shore in October, which Emily thought nothing of even though Doug gave them his beloved Porsche for the trip. Austin asked Emily to wait on the porch while he finished getting ready, to have one last drink before dinner. It was cold and wet out and Emily didn't understand why he wanted her out there but ignored this. A few minutes later he came out, freshly-shaven and got down on one knee, right where they first met. Emily was so surprised she forgot to say yes. The real plot twist came next when her parents refused to answer their phones saying they were busy - as they secretly waited with Austin's parents at the Ebbitt Room in Cape May. Everybody was in cahoots - secret phone calls, secret trips down the shore, location sharing turned off- all to give Emily the best surprise of her life. (The worst surprise was when Doug called at 8am next day to make brunch plans).
