Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium
Everyone from Omaha knows and recommends those visiting to check out our zoo—it's one of the best in the world! Some of our favorite attractions are the two-story indoor jungle, the desert dome with a swamp underneath, and of course, the aquarium tunnel with sharks swimming overhead. Pack your walking shoes!
The Old Market
We could not pick just one place to recommend in the Old Market. It's a historic district downtown full of bars, restaurants, and shops. Our favorite restaurant is the Omaha classic M's Pub, where we dined the night we got engaged.
Lied Lodge
A Haggstrom tradition that we have now adopted as our own. An escape close to home, the Lied Lodge is perfect for a relaxing fall trip. We recommend playing cards and drinking Moscow Mules in the Library Lounge, going on a walk to the new Apple House Market, or ordering the Tomahawk Steak at Timbers to become famous amongst the wait staff.
Coneflower Creamery
Best ice cream in town, hands down. Emily's favorite flavor is Basil White Chocolate, and Thomas' is Cookies and Cream. Go treat yo' selves!
Chipotle Mexican Grill
Yup. You got that right, a fast-food joint. But this fast-food joint hits so much different than all the rest, becoming part of each of our personalities. Emily recommends the chicken tacos with guac (but please be aware, it is extra), and Thomas recommends a steak bowl and a side of queso because it's simply worth it.
Thirst Tea Cafe
The boba tea that has our hearts and paychecks wrapped around its finger. When we first got together, we would commonly treat ourselves during finals with Thirst-Tea. Whenever I have a bad day at school or work, Thomas surprises me with my favorite—Thai Milk Tea. Thomas recommends the Chai Milk Tea.
