Upon arriving at SJO International Airport you will need to walk to the domésticas terminal and take a 45 minute flight to Golfito. Please see the website for available flight times. *IMPORTANT- Customs and immigration lines can be long at this time of year. Please give yourself at least 2 hours between the time you land at the airport in SJO and the time your Sansa flight departs for Golfito.

We only make this recommendation for large groups or families that will be traveling together and wish to charter a flight from SJO to Golfito. This airline comes highly recommended. Fill out the contact form on the website provided to gather more details, availability and pricing information.

Golfito Marina Village Car Rental

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT ALL GUESTS CHOOSE A RENTAL CAR for transportation around Golfito, Zancudo and Pavones. Upon arriving in Golfito, you will need to take a taxi to the Golfito Marina to pick up your rental car. It is recommended that you call to make reservations in advance and confirm the pick up location in Golfito. Be aware that insurance costs for American tourists can become exorbitant. If using a credit card, we recommend getting a letter from the credit card company showing proof of liability coverage while traveling abroad. Expect at least a $500 deposit on the rental car at the time of pick up.

Budget Car Rental SJO Airport

If you’d like to drive from San José to Zancudo, this is the most convenient place to pick up a rental car. The desk is located in the baggage claim area just outside the customs line. Please note that it is about a 6-7 hour drive along the coastal road from San José to Playa Zancudo. It is not recommended to drive this road late at night as it is a two-lane highway that isn’t well lit. If you have time to stop along your drive, we highly recommend Manuel Antonio, Dominical, Playa Ventanas and Uvita. Jaco and Quepos are other popular destinations along the way.

Zuma Rent A Car

If you’d like to drive from San Jose to Zancudo and see more of the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, this rental car company is a great option. Zuma has a shuttle that will pick you up from the airport in San Jose and take you to their rental pick up location in Jaco. From Jaco, it’s about a 5-6 hour drive to Zancudo. There are some beautiful stops along the way, if you’d like to break up the trip. Our favorites are Manuel Antonio, Uvita, Dominical and Ojochal. You can experience everything from whitewater rafting, scuba diving, waterfalls, beaches and more.
