The Wedding Website of Emily Martin and Taldon Bressel
We know there will be travel involved for those who want to spend our special day with us. Here are a few of our recommendations to make figuring out your travel plans a little easier. Fresno and Clovis, Ca are the closest major cities to Shaver Lake but given the distance we recommend staying in Shaver Lake.

Travel Note

What We Recommend

We recommend staying the night in Shaver Lake after the wedding (Fresno is an hour away and that drive can be intimidating in the dark). There are lots of Airbnbs, a couple of motels, and a bed and breakfast in town.

Travel Note

Flying

If you're flying there are a few airports to choose from: 1) Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) - This is the closest airport to Shaver Lake. Located in Fresno, it's about an hours drive away. 2) San Francisco International Airport (SFO) - This is the next closest major airport. Depending on traffic, it's about 3 hours away from Fresno and 4 hours away from Shaver Lake. 3) Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) - This is the third closest major airport. Depending on traffic, it's about 3 1/2 hours away from Fresno and 4 1/2 hours away from Shaver Lake. These are just a few of the airports in the area. The Bay Area also has Oakland International Airport (OAK) and San Jose International Airport (SJC), which are typically just as easy to fly into depending on which airline you choose. While Southern California has many airports, LAX is the closest in driving distance to Fresno. *NOTE: SouthWest Airlines now flies to Fresno via DIA & LAS if you're looking for cheaper flights!*

Travel Note

How Do We Get From Fresno to Shaver Lake?

There is one way to get from Fresno to Shaver Lake and that's to drive. (There is no affordable Uber or Lyft service to Shaver Lake so if you're flying a rental car is a must.) From Fresno/Clovis take Highway 168 East and it runs right through Shaver Lake. Highway 168 will also be your route to get from Shaver Lake to Huntington Lake (ceremony site) and back.

Rental Car Recommendations

Unless you plan to go off-roading while visiting, a normal sedan or even a compact car will get you up the mountain just fine, no need to rent anything that's 4 wheel drive.
