The easiest way to reach Las Gaviotas is by flying into San Diego International Airport (SAN) and driving across the border or by flying into Mexico's Tijuana International Airport (TIJ).

Driving yourself
From San Diego (SAN): Cross the border at San Ysidro and follow the coastal toll road (Mexico 1D) south toward Rosarito/Ensenada. Las Gaviotas is about 60 minutes from the border. From Tijuana (TIJ): After landing, Las Gaviotas is about 60-minute drive. What to Know: Passport required for returning to the U.S. It’s best to leave San Diego before 2 PM to avoid heavy traffic crossing into Mexico. Purchase Mexican auto insurance https://www.bajabound.com Expect two toll booths — bring small cash (pesos or dollars). On the way back, border wait times returning to the U.S. can be long, especially on Sundays (~4 hours).

Walking across the boarder
If you are an adventurous traveler, consider using the San Ysidro Pedestrian Border Crossing. Once on the Mexico side you can meet a pre-arranged shuttle bus driver, or use a taxi cab. You can take a cab or Uber to the US side of the boarder with the following address: Pedestrian Bridge Border Crossing 5165 Camino De La Plaza, San Diego, CA 92173, USA We recommend using a pre-arranged driver once you've crossed.
