We both were working at Black & Veatch, on the same floor, but had never actually worked together and never gotten a chance to talk to each other. Sam had a very strict no dating co workers policy. Then comes the dating app Bumble. Starting to talk on the dating app gave each of us the confidence that we could safely flirt at work. Sam had planned an excellent first date, but he had it about two weeks out in time because he was going to be out of town the next weekend, and he said Emily deserved better than just an after work happy hour for a first date. But then they both got impatient and ended up going on a pre first date early in the week. It went well, and proceeded to Friday for the real first date. Sam planned drinks and dessert at Westport Cafe and then an improv comedy show. Emily passed the test by laughing at all the good jokes. Sam then recreated this same first date three years later to propose, drinks and dessert at Westport Cafe, except instead of a comedy show some of our friends and family were gathered to celebrate.
