Every single day, before I knew your name, I couldn't see your face, but I prayed for you... I (Emily) moved to South Carolina January 1st, 2019 with high hopes and expectations. I relocated from Northern Michigan to complete my internship for my Masters in Counseling program. I also knew I could potentially meet someone special, finally, and this was the most exciting part. During my first week, I joined a small group, started attending a church and went to a worship night, where, according to Ross, we met for the first time. The first memory I have of meeting Ross was at a birthday party for a mutual friend. I was admittedly avoiding someone, and invested all my time into talking to Ross so I didn't have to talk to this other person. We hit it off and talked most of the night. I remember thinking about him often after that night and hoping I would be able to date someone like him. His generosity, positive attitude, kindness and terrible accents won me over. I thank God for bringing me Ross and for His special timing.
The day had arrived. Emily had to work early and I had told her that I was working as well. What she did not know is I was printing 50 photos to hang all over my apartment, grabbing a bottle of champagne, and purchasing 3 dozen roses of different colors. I had planned with Emily to take a "lunch break" when she got off work and was going to make her lunch. The clock had started and I had until around 11:30 am to get everything ready. I hung photos from the ceiling by string in the living room. Family photos in the entrance way, photos of us on trips to the left, and photos of us with our friends on the right. Roses were on the table by the door and in the living room. Candles were lit, mood lighting created, and after 30 minutes of trying to work the google home device, music was set up. Now it is only 9 am and I have over 2 hours to sit in the house and let my nerves run wild. By 1 pm, Emily called saying she was just now getting off work. She was going to run a few errands and then come over, but not before going through the Starbucks drive-thru and asking if I wanted anything. It was hard to not yell "NO, hurry up!" After practicing the proposal many times over, there was a knock on the door. Emily had arrived. She came in and we slow danced in the living room. We looked together at all the photos. As her back was turned to me, I got down on one knee and asked, "Will you go on this next adventure with me? Will you marry me?" She said YES!
