Our story began in May of 2017. Emily had gone to brunch with two close friends of ours, one of whom I attended the fire academy with, and jokingly asked if he had any extremely handsome single friends. To her surprise his response was something along the lines of “Actually I do, my friend De Leon is pretty good looking but he’s kind of short.” She took her chances and allowed him to text me her phone number. I received a text from him that said, “Hey I have a friend that thinks you’re cute, do you want her number?” After some stalking of her Instagram profile, I agreed immediately and the rest as corny as it sounds, is history. After a single afternoon of some very strategically worded text messages Emily agreed to go on a date with me. I picked her up from home and was immediately head over heels with this person I just met. We stayed up all night talking about who we were and the plans we had for ourselves, we spent the summer going on a few more dates, and on June 26 I asked Emily to become my girlfriend, knowing in my head that she was the one, I started to think very seriously about our relationship and the future that we were heading into. Finally, after 4 and a half years, on a trip to Breckenridge, Colorado I gathered up enough courage to propose. I hired a photographer who was local to the area and after a “sight-seeing hike” I got down on one knee and proposed at an overlook at Lake Dillon which could not have been more perfect, on a snow-covered mountain top with a glistening frozen lake as our backdrop she said “YES!” with tears in her eyes.
