How We Met

Chaos

Just like plenty of other couples we know, each of us had spent our time on online dating apps, dates with friends-of-friends and *memorable* college encounters, until we were both ready for a period without dating during the winter of 2015. Each of us were out to spend some quality bonding/drinking time with family, our guards were down and expectations were low as they each hit the bars in Fishtown, PA. Ray, determined to beat Michael at a generation-long battle for Tetris-champion, was entirely unaware of Emily sizing him up from across the bar. Filled with plenty of liquid courage (thanks to her big sister, Liz) she felt the time was right to create some chaos. While Emily began teasing him relentlessly, Ray was caught off-guard and doubled down on the focus for the game. Thinking she was bested by a sibling rivalry and animated cubes, Emily left Ray to chat with her sister. Little did she know, he began the search for the "Blonde in the Leather Jacket". Upon finding each other in Barcade after a little hunting on Ray's part, we didn't really see a need to separate from that point forward!

The Proposal

Chaos, Continued

We had been living in California for a while at this point and had become just as frustrated with time slipping away during a global pandemic as everyone else we knew. Emily, even more focused on the big 6-year-anniversary around the corner, was a little less patient than perhaps Ray knew what to do with. However he handled it extremely well, hiding the proposal and even tricking Emily into thinking it wasn't going to happen until the even bigger 7-year-anniversary. Instead, a picnic on the surrounding hills of Muir Woods was the perfect surprise location for the best day of their lives (so far!). You'll have to ask us in person to find out how Emily ruined Ray's initial attempt. That bit is too embarrassing to put on a website.
