We Got Married!

We were married this past fall, on October 26, 2019, in a private ceremony, surrounded by our immediate family (and our dog Lucy, of course!). We held the ceremony at Hotel Ella, a beautiful mansion in the center of Downtown Austin. Emily's father walked her to the ceremony on the side lawn of the mansion, and the marriage was sealed with both a kiss and a family toast!

True to the digital age, we met online through a dating app! Emily was new to Austin and Ralph was happy to show Emily around the city. On our first date, we organized a "queso competition" - We met on "the Drag" in Austin and shared our favorite quesos in a head-to-head competition. We still cannot agree who won that night, but we do agree that it was a memorable start to our relationship!

Ralph pulled off quite the surprise! Confident Emily would never turn down a chance to play outside on a beautiful weekend, he organized a trail run at Pace Bend Park in Spicewood, Texas. The weekend before the proposal, Ralph scouted out the trail and enlisted the help of close friend and photographer Ramon to pick the perfect spot to get down on one knee. In hindsight, Emily could tell Ralph was acting a "little off" on the drive over to the park, but she brushed it off and continued on their trail run, business as usual. Wrapping up a five mile run, Ralph told Emily he needed to stop and stretch. Entirely oblivious, Emily stopped, but was too distracted to notice Ralph on one knee, pulling out a diamond ring, until he called out to her. She said yes and the rest is history!
