Page and Emily were set up on a blind double date by their mutual friend, McCoy. In September 2018, Page had seen a picture of Emily with some other Children's hospital coworkers. Knowing that McCoy also worked at Children's, Page asked her to set the two up. Coordinating Emily's crazy graduate school and work schedule with Page's love of Alabama football made finding a day that worked for both of them that fall impossible, and they did not meet until December. Fortunately, Page remained patient and persistent until there was a day the two could meet. The date was supposed to take place at Queens Park Cocktail Bar. However the bar had just opened and the line was out the door. Page being the prompt, never late kind of guy he is, realized this before McCoy, her date and Emily had even arrived. He swiftly changed the plans to Carrigan's, a local favorite that was just down the street from the original place. After a drink and some appetizers at Carrigan's, they noticed the line had died down at Queens Park and decided to still check it out. They ended the night with Christmas themed drinks in a bar heavily decorated in tinsel and lights. Page bought Emily a cocktail called "Koala-La La La La La La La" and himself the "Run Run Rudolph". The date was fantastic and ended with Page asking Emily to accompany him to a Christmas party the very next night!
After asking Emily's parents for permission to marry their daughter in December, Page spent the next few months coming up with the perfect plan. Page thought about various locations and times, but one place stuck out in particular...Tuscaloosa, AL on the campus of The University of Alabama. He wanted to do it in the spring time, since it's beautiful that time of year with flowers blooming, but how could he get her 45 min away from Birmingham without her getting suspicious? He decided to tell Emily that there was a watch party at the Zone (at Bryant Denny Stadium) for an Alumni group he's in where they will have food, watch the game, and award ceremony. Emily knows that Page is in Alabama alumni groups and goes to dinners and such, so this wasn't out of the ordinary. The plan was they would drive to Tuscaloosa, park a few blocks away, and walk down University Blvd and Page would propose in front of the President's Mansion. He also hired a photographer to capture the moment. He had done all of his homework, dropped off champagne and their Alabama jerseys for photos with the photographer the day before. The day went off without a hitch, he proposed around 1:20pm that afternoon on a crisp spring day which the photographer beautifully captured every moment. Emily didn't know, but the surprises didn't stop there. For weeks when Emily was at school or work, Page had been working with her family, his family and their friends to turn her parents' backyard into the perfect celebration for them once they got back into town. The prep work started weeks in advance with yard work, pressure washing, ordering decorations, and catering. When they returned to Bham, Emily walked into her house and was shocked to see 75 of her closest friends and family standing there. Tears were shed, laughs were had, and joy among everyone there to see Page and Emily engaged. The celebration went well into the night and was a day neither of them would ever forget!
