Emily First off for context, at our church I serve on the worship team and Noah serves at the sound booth. We had both been at the church for over a year and Sunday after Sunday we did not notice each other, even though we were constantly in each other's line of sight! The first time I noticed Noah was playing basketball at a game I went to watch. I did not think much of it, but something peaked my interest about him. Our first encounter was at a church tailgate party where I supposedly said hi first, just kidding, I remember. It was very brief and a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing. We had a few friendly conversations over the following months and about the third conversation, I started to see him differently. I would get super smiley outside of the Dream Team Central room at church as we spoke. Undeniably, I was crushing. It was easy to talk to him and I wanted to get to know him more. I wasn’t really sure he was having some of the same thoughts as me and then, unexpectedly, he asked me out and I was nervous like a high school girl but excited with peace. We went bowling and had ice cream and spent hours just talking. Nearly three years later, here we are, about to take the next step in the plans God has for our lives!
Noah I had spent about 9 months fake proposing to her in random places. The mall, a restaurant, walking down the street, no place was too odd for me to get down on one knee and pretend to tie my shoe, no ring necessary. We started planning a trip to Puerto Rico with some of our family, at which point I told myself that it would be a great place to propose to Emily. I didn’t know when exactly I was going to do it, but I knew I’d figure it out along the way. On the 4th day of our vacation, we had a blast. We went scuba diving in the morning which was a surreal experience and then parasailing in the afternoon which was one of the most peaceful and relaxing things you could ever do. And what better way to top off a fun, adventurous day than with the ultimate surprise at the end? I brought her to a fountain in Old San Juan, told her that it was about time I stopped joking around asking her to marry me, got down on one knee… and well, the rest is history.
