How We Met

We met at John and Caroline Russell's wedding in August 2017. I was the wedding coordinator and Montana was one of John, his cousin's, groomsman. We met officially the night of the rehearsal at The Mayo Hotel, for the after party, where we talked for the first time. He asked me to dance, but I was determined to go home early since I was working the next day. The day of the wedding I was working hard and Montana was standing around, kind of staring at me. I figured he was free so I put him to work, haha! The wedding was beautiful and went off without a hitch, so after things settled down he came and found me and asked me to dance again. I told him I was working so I couldn't but maybe we could later after I was done. The night ended though, and we never got to dance. I casually asked John and Caroline about their cousin and they freaked out, Caroline saying, "you're going to be a Russell with me!" I said to myself, yeah right no way! The next day they told Montana he missed his chance with me, but he told them he was going to come after me anyway. Two months later, he finally got me to agree to a date, so he came to Tulsa and took me out. We finally got to dance, and that sealed the deal, the rest is history!

The Proposal

We were at our friends, Nic and Kayla Hingle's birthday party in downtown Tulsa. Montana was acting strange all day, so I thought we were having an off night, haha! After the dinner he made up an excuse to run back to my house, so I stayed with my friends while he left. We went to The Mayo Hotel and were hanging out on the rooftop with everyone. Montana finally came back and joined the group. It was a nice day but was starting to cool off, so I told him I was getting cold and was ready to leave. Instead of leaving, he asked me to dance over to the side to warm up. This wasn't that unusual actually, as dancing is one of our favorite things to do. But this time, he started playing a song that said, "I've got a diamond in my pocket and my baby's got a heart of gold.. "(Cody Johnson) I just looked him at said, "No you don't!!!" He got down on one knee and all he could get out is "Will You Marry Me?" I started screaming so he had to ask if that meant yes or not. Of course it was a yes!
