Things To Do

Thames Street

Thames Street

Thames Street, Newport, RI 02840

There's an endless amount of fun things to do in Newport... and we'll share some of our favorites with you here. But, if you're just glancing at this page, there's really only one takeaway you need: Thames Street. This is where it all happens in Newport. Bars, restaurants, shopping, and (most importantly) our wedding venue! All on one wonderful strip along the marina. If you're dealing with too many opinions to make plans, just head to Thames and figure it out. There's something for everyone! One tip: there's not a lot of (free) parking. Highly recommend walking or getting dropped off. Newport's a small place and Ubers are plentiful.

Rejects Beach

Rejects Beach

Cliff Walk - South End, Newport, RI 02840

One of our favorite places in the world. Also the start (or end) or the Newport cliff walk! There's no parking at this beach (so it's never too crowded). Highly recommend walking, biking, or getting dropped off here for the day. P.S. - bring cups if you want to have a cold one on the beach, they can sometimes be sticklers about open containers.

Second Beach

Second Beach

315 Sachuest Point Road, Middletown, RI 02842

Another beautiful Rhode Island beach. A bit more convenient than Rejects, there's a big parking lot with paid daily parking. We love to hang out on the "Surfers End". There are great waves (sometimes), a place to rent surfboards, and a Dell's Frozen Lemonade truck!

Cliff Walk

Cliff Walk

Cliff Walk, Newport, RI 02840

One of the best "hikes" in the world (don't worry, it's not really a hike). A 3.5 mile (mostly) paved walk along the water with views of the ocean and all of Newports historic mansions. Wear shoes, it's not all perfectly paved!

Bites

Breakfast: Drift Cafe - Great coffee & breakfast foods. Order ahead... the line gets long. Corner Cafe - Awesome little sit-down breakfast/brunch spot. The Nitro Bar - Incredible coffee and food! Two locations (Thames & Broadway) Lunch: Newport Sandwich Co. - Great sandwich spot! Awesome breakfast and lunch. Very good lobster rolls (both Connecticut, Maine, and Rhode Island style). Wally's Weiners - Famous Rhode Island hot weiners. All types of hot dogs, smashburgers, and an awesome brunch menu. Also, gigantic espresso martinis. Dinner: Diego's - Great views of the water, better nachos. Brick Alley Pub - Immaculate vibes. Classic pub food. Mother Pizza - Thin-sliced sourdough 'za. Get the Calabrian Luau, thank us later. Pasta Beach - Sounds weird, but actually very good. Newport Harbor Island Resort - Great food & beautiful outdoor deck w/ view of Newport bridge Ice Cream: Kilwin's - 10/10 homemade ice creams & cones Del's Lemonade - a Rhode Island CLASSIC

Booze

Too many to name, but we have some favorites: O'Briens - Great spot day or night. Tons of outdoor seating and space. Pool table and touch tunes (Mikey's favorite) in the back. Grab yourself one of their Mudslides. (It's also only a couple hundred feet away from our venue). The Landing - Water views. Indoor/outdoor spot. Live music. White Horse Tavern - Maybe the oldest bar in the world? Opened in 1673! Not as lively as the first two recommendations, but great cocktails and a cool spot to get a drink. Or you can walk down Thames and see where the vibes take you. Plenty of great spots.

Golf

Jamestown Golf Course - Hidden gem. Fun layout and good conditions. Only ~$20 to loop 9 here. No tee times, just show up and hang at the Caddy Shack while you wait. Great views of the Jamestown Bridge and Narragansett Bay. Newport National Golf Club - One of the nicest public tracks in New England. Bit on the pricier side, but worth the money if you love to play. Head's up - there's no range there... so just pretend to do a quick stretch and get out there.
