Meeting for the first time under Marcus' magnolia tree, we knew this was something special. Both of us will admit we are major foodies, so it was only right our first date was spent cooking and sharing food. What is a more romantic meal than chocolate chip pancakes and bacon? We hung out, ate and talked as the hours flew by, and by the time Emily headed back to Tuscaloosa she thanked the Lord for that night and for introducing her to her future husband.
On Thanksgiving morning, we prepped food and got our home ready for Marcus' family to arrive. Emily is always asking Marcus to dance, and is usually rejected, but this particular morning, Marcus stood up and together we started dancing in the living room while a Christmas vinyl played. As an orchestral "Sleigh Ride" played from the record player, Marcus told Emily about his love for her and vision for their future before getting down on one knee. Since then, Emily has worn the diamond that Marcus' Nana donned for her long and loving marriage.
On January 17th, 2020, we said "why not?" and headed to the Montgomery Court House (after a quick stop at the UPS store to see a notary.) After the (very romantic) paperwork was complete, we looked at each other and were one. We spent the day in each others company, eating good food and drinking champagne.
