They owe it all to Chris and Anna Elliott! Emily was in Charleston to celebrate one of her college girlfriends (Anna) birthday! Anna’s boyfriend at the time, now husband (Chris), said he was going to invite some of his Air Force friends to meet up with them at dinner so we could all celebrate together. Kevin walked into the restaurant sat down right next to Emily and the two started laughing immediately. After a weekend filled with so much fun the two said their goodbyes and Emily headed back to Houston. BUT THAT WASN’T THE END OF THEIR LOVE STORY. A few weeks went by and suddenly Kevin was inviting Emily back to Charleston to be his date for the Order of the Pelican! The weekend was magical to say the least: the two ate, walked, and partied their way through Charleston all over again! After that the two kept in touch every single day and the rest is history!
About a week before the actual proposal Kevin told Emily that he had plans for them to go on a boat ride around the Charleston Harbor and then meet up with friends at Shem Creek later that afternoon. Almost immediately Emily knew that a proposal would not be happening that day because when has Kevin ever planned something a week in advance?!?! His plan was too perfect and too setup to be a proposal… but boy was Emily wrong!! Saturday arose and the two with Trevor in tow went to lunch (at the same spot they had their first date!) then headed down to the marina to meet up with friends. They cruised around the water and then started making their way towards the Ravenel Bridge. It was the most perfect backdrop on the water for a picture so of course Emily said “hey lets get a photo” but little did she know that was Kevin’s plan all along! They posed for a picture with the bridge in the background and suddenly Kevin was down on one knee! Emily said YES!! After that Kevin had one more surprise up his sleeve! The two got dropped off at Shem Creek to grab some celebration drinks but when they arrived all of their friends were standing around ready to celebrate the day with them! Emily immediately started crying with joy and excitement and then about lost it when she saw that her best friend had flown all the way from Houston to be there for the big day!! It was such a magical day filled with love, friends, and family!
