We didn't meet by chance at a coffee shop or walking past each other to class. Didn't know each other growing up or attend the same schools. But we did grow up in proximity, maybe just missing one another by a mile or two, who knows. Attended rivaling high schools and the same college, unaware of the other. Perhaps he even attended a party across from my college apartment at which I looked through shuttered blinds and rolled my eyes at the noise. But one curious follow, a couple of attempts at securing a date, a whirlwind night at the skating rink that involved an embarrassing chicken dance, and here we are 5 years later.
