Flight (MVY) - Quickest and Easiest - $$$
A lot of major air carriers offer flights directly to Martha's Vineyard Airport from nearby cities, including New York, Boston, and Washington, D.C. This is the fastest and easiest option, and better prices are available if you book well in advance (can start to get pricier if you wait)! Some airlines connect you through BOS and to a Cape Air flight to MVY (you can also book a bus or an Uber from BOS to the ferry). Martha's Vineyard Airport is served by: -American Airlines (via DCA and LGA) -JetBlue (via BOS, DCA, EWR, and JFK) -Delta (via JFK and LGA) -Cape Air (via BOS, Hyannis, and Westchester) -Tradewind (via Morristown and Teterboro)
Ferry - Woods Hole, MA - $
The Steamship Authority Ferry out of Woods Hole, MA (1 Cowdry Road) operates year-round to Martha's Vineyard. It's a quick 45-minute ride from the Woods Hole Terminal to the ferry terminals in Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs (both locations are equally convenient to all towns). A car isn't necessary for the weekend, but if you would like to bring a car on the island, this is the ONLY option, and you'll need to make a reservation for both you and your car well in advance - reservations for summer 2023 opened January 24th! The Steamship Authority also offers parking lots in Cape Cod where you can park your car for the weekend and hop on a provided shuttle from the lot to the ferry terminal. Palmer Avenue Lot (286 Palmer Avenue) is the closest, with Thomas B. Landers (22 Technology Park Drive) and Cataumet Lot (Route 28A) being further away once the Palmer Lot is full. Parking prices are $20/day and a single passenger ferry ticket is $19 round trip per passenger. Flight (PVD) - Providence, RI - Connect to Ferry $$
T.F. Green Airport in Providence, RI has year-round flights available from major airports. From T.F. Green, it is a 20-minute Uber/Lyft ride to the Fast Ferry in Quonset, RI; or a 45-minute ride to the Seastreak Ferry in New Bedford, MA. There is also a shuttle from the airport to the Fast Ferry harbor (details on the Fast Ferry website).
Flight (BOS) - Boston, MA - Connect to Ferry $
Logan Airport in Boston, MA is the largest airport near Martha's Vineyard--about a 2-hour drive to the Woods Hole ferry--and it's easy to catch a connecting flight directly to Martha's Vineyard via JetBlue or CapeAir. If you prefer to fly to Boston and take a ferry to Martha's Vineyard, year-round bus services are available from Boston Logan Airport / South Station Transportation Terminal to the Steamship Authority ferry terminal in Woods Hole, MA via the Peter Pan Bus (https://peterpanbus.com/) or Plymouth Brockton bus (https://www.p-b.com/). The Plymouth Brockton bus also offers a year-round service from Logan to the Hyannis Transportation Center (9-minute walk / 3 minute drive from the Hy-Line Ferry Terminal in Hyannis). For any bus options, be sure to schedule your arrival well in advance of your ferry's departure time!
Ferry - Quonset, RI - $$
The Fast Ferry sails for 75 minutes from Quonset, RI and docks in Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard. This is a convenient option for avoiding the Cape Cod traffic you might encounter en route to some of the other ferry harbors, and it is a quick 20-minute Uber ride from T.F. Green Airport in Providence, RI. They offer a shuttle from Amtrak/Providence Airport. There is dockside parking for an additional price if you'd prefer to drive. Ferry - New Bedford, MA & New York, NY - $$
The SeaStreak Ferry leaves daily from New Bedford, MA, and after a 60-minute ride, docks in Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard. It is a 45-minute Uber ride from T.F. Green Airport in Providence, RI. There is also parking available offsite for $15/day or valet for $30/day. A round trip ticket is $79/person. - The ferry that used to leave from NJ/NYC to Oak Bluffs is not operating in the 2023 season unfortunately! www.seastreak.com
Ferry - Hyannis, MA - $$
Hy-Line Cruises sails into Oak Bluffs harbor via an approximately 60 minute trip from Hyannis harbor. They also sail into Oak Bluffs harbor via an 80-minute ferry trip from Nantucket harbor, if you'd like to see both islands during your trip. The Hy-Line ferry is $62/person Round Trip from Hyannis and Nantucket ($38/person one-way). A limited portion of on-site lot spots are available to reserve in advance while the rest are saved for day-of sailing purchase for $28/day or off-site for $17/day. The Island Queen sails into Oak Bluffs harbor via a 35-minute trip from Falmouth harbor. The Island Queen is $23 round-trip for adults. Parking is available on a first-to-arrive basis and is not reserved with your ferry booking for $20/day and is Cash Only. The Pied Piper Ferry (also known as the Falmouth-Edgartown Ferry) is the only ferry that goes directly into Edgartown Harbor. It is only available from Friday-Sunday for our June weekend and is a 60-minute ride that drops you off right in downtown Edgartown for $80/person round trip.
